Summer Days at Obie’s

June 5th, 2019 Posted by BF News No Comment yet

Catch the best ocean views in Rehoboth and enjoy mouthwatering food and drinks at Obie’s By the Sea, newly managed by Big Fish Restaurant Group this summer season. Obie’s is located right on the boardwalk in downtown Rehoboth Beach and boasts a deck and open-air indoor seating, as well as a take-out window for those who would rather carry our delicious eats onto the sand. The breathtaking view and easy, fun vibe at Obie’s will keep vacationers – and locals who want to feel like they’re on vacation – happy, and coming back over and over again this summer!

Serving up lunch and dinner every day from 11am to 10pm, there’s something on the menu to satisfy any craving from simple and tasty snacks to savory entrées with the fresh seafood you expect from BFRG. We’d recommended ordering a fresh-squeezed crush to get things started; the Put the Lime in De Coconut Crush is extra refreshing on those hot and hazy days. (You can trust us on this one.) If food is what you’re after, choose from a variety of steamed seafood appetizers like Peel & Eat Shrimp, Clams or Mussels; or opt for another one of our starters. You can never go wrong with Obie’s Signature Wings or Fried Chesapeake Crab Balls.

And we love fries here just as much as the seagulls do. Trying a basket of our Beach Fries is a must. Whether you go with original or Old Bay Fries with Cheese Sauce, no one at the table will be able to stop eating until the last one’s gone! We’ve got quite the selection of burgers and sandwiches – perfect for lunch or dinner – from a classic All American beef burger to our Shrimp Salad Sandwich. For a lighter option, try the Lobster Chopped Salad or a Bowl of Chili with all the fixins. Obie’s also serves the favorite BFRG entrées you’ve come to love, like our Yellow Fin Grilled Tuna and Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes.

Walk no further than the boardwalk on your next beach day for lunch from Obie’s take-out window, available from 11am to 4pm each afternoon. We’ve got an awesome Kids’ Menu too for any little beachcombers in tow! And if you thought all this was too good to be true right on the water, wait until you hear about our summer lineup of live music. Hang with us any Sunday Funday from 11am-1pm to hear Sean Styles, Tuesday nights from 8-11pm to see Joe Daphne, or Thursdays from 8-11pm to rock with Zodiak Jack. One visit to Obie’s By the Sea, and you’ll want to spend all your summer days here…we’ll see you soon!

Big Fish Market: Prepare Fresh Fish at Home

May 9th, 2019 Posted by BF News No Comment yet

Big Fish Market, located next to Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth, makes it easier than ever to recreate the same flavors you love from our restaurants right at home. Stop by and check out our selection of fresh fish and assortment of distinctive spices, sauces, dips, cheeses and other quality ingredients – perfect for the next beautiful summer evening when you’d rather grill out and enjoy dinner on your patio! Then follow these go-to tips from our culinary director that will leave your family raving over what’s served up tonight.

Steak fish is always the best for grilling because it’s hearty and will hold up well during cooking. Try swordfish or tuna for the novice griller, or rockfish, mahi or salmon if you’re more comfortable grilling fish. You’ll want to marinate or lightly season the fish prior to grilling. Pick up our steak spice, a Big Fish original, or blackening season for a deeper, earthy flavor. You can also keep the seasoning simple and drizzle Lobster Sauce over your fish to finish it. Try our Hawaiian BBQ Sauce if you prefer a marinade.

Set your grill to 400 degrees and use nonstick spray on both the grill and the fish. To prepare your fish to medium well, which is how we do it in house, start by cooking it skin side up (so the meat of the fish is on the grill) for 2/3 of the cooking time. Rotate the fish a bit for the last 1/3, and then turn it over (so the skin side is now on the grill) for the last 2-3 minutes to finish grilling.

If you prefer a more delicate fish, such as flounder, cod or tilapia, we recommend baking it. Coat your fish with one of the mouthwatering crusts we use in our restaurants and carry here at the Market before putting it in the oven. The cashew or pecan crust are both delicious when topped with the fruit salsa made fresh here daily. Set your oven to 400 degrees and bake the fish for 9-12 minutes. Cooking times will vary depending on the thickness of your filet.

We also have plenty of homemade side dishes and desserts available at the Market, already prepared for your convenience. Pick up some Herb Pasta Salad, Marinated Veggies, or those Neva’s Potatoes we all love to take home and enjoy with your fish. Finish off dinner with a slice of our famous Key Lime Pie or Coconut Creme Cake, and your family will thank you for staying in tonight!

YOU WANT TO WORK FOR BIG FISH RESTAURANT GROUP

April 8th, 2019 Posted by BF News No Comment yet

Live and work at the beach this summer. And who wouldn’t want to do that?! Our restaurants located in the Rehoboth Beach area are currently hiring all positions as we prepare for the busy summer season ahead. That means you can enjoy beautiful coastal Delaware and that laid-back beach lifestyle while working and earning money all summer long. And who knows – you may love it so much that you won’t want to leave after Labor Day! Don’t worry; we’d be happy to see you stay.

BFRG has multiple concepts to fit your personality. Whether you enjoy working in a more casual atmosphere such as that at Crab House or soon-to-open Obie’s By the Sea, or you prefer to give more of a refined dining experience to guests, like at Salt Air or Sazio, we’re sure to have the right home for you. We have 6 existing locations in Rehoboth and 1 in Ocean View, DE, plus 2 new concepts set to open this spring…and that’s just in coastal Delaware! We have several restaurants in the Wilmington area as well if you decide that the beach life isn’t for you; and yep, they’re hiring too!

There’s great opportunity for growth. If you are driven, hospitality-focused and want to further your skills, then BFRG is the place for you. Whether this is your first job or you want to make a career working with us, there are so many opportunities for you to grow professionally! Our focus on unmatched hospitality and positive interactions with guests will help you to gain people skills (ahem, interpersonal skills if we’re being fancy); not to mention that you’ll learn to work cooperatively on a large team of your peers. These skills are invaluable no matter what your track is beyond working for BFRG. We also promote from within, and seek to advance our most hardworking employees.

There’s tremendous earning potential. Did we mention how busy we are in the summer, and even year-round?! The Nation’s Summer Capital of Rehoboth Beach is a pretty happening place in the spring/summer season. Those working in a role fueled by tips, such as servers and bartenders, will thrive on tourists visiting our beloved beach town. But truly any position in our company has great earning potential because there are plenty of extra hours available in the summer and room to expand to other concepts or a higher role.

You’ll become part of the BFRG family. Whether it’s going out to group dinners, hitting up a local spot for happy hour or participating in many of the great team activities the beach has to offer (volleyball, restaurant olympics and even a beach boot camp), our culture is the lifeblood of our company. We believe a happy team is the best team! See you soon.

5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT BIG FISH RESTAURANT GROUP

March 20th, 2019 Posted by BF News No Comment yet

1. Our restaurant group is growing in Spring 2019 to 17 locations! We’re so excited to announce that Sazio, coastal Italian seafood kitchen, and Obie’s By the Sea, beach bar and restaurant, will open in downtown Rehoboth this spring! We’re also bringing BarRoja, a Southern California taco concept, and Torbert Street Social, speakeasy tavern and outdoor patio, to Wilmington this upcoming season. Be sure to come check out all our new digs and try the tasty eats and drinks unique to each location!

2. Big Fish Restaurant Group has its very own commissary and bakery on site at Big Fish Grill Rehoboth. We use the freshest ingredients to prepare the mouth-watering sauces, crab cakes, delicious desserts, and so many more menu items you love here, and then deliver them to each of our locations. In 2018, our commissary produced 156,000 crab cakes, each handmade and individually weighed by two of our favorite gals, Arminda and Janet. (We know you all enjoy our crab cakes, but WOAH!) In addition to baking desserts for each of our restaurants, Big Fish Premium Bakery offers custom birthday and wedding cakes, artisan bread, bite-size dessert tables and much more, perfect for your next event.

Congratulations to our talented pastry chef, Rhiannon, on winning first place at this year’s Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival for her Mexican mocha ice cream and salted caramel devil’s food cake!

3. We also own and operate Big Fish Wholesale Seafood Company, established in 2009, where the highest quality fish, shellfish and crabmeat are sourced to not only our restaurants, but so many others! We purchase seafood from some of the very best places around the globe, most frequently Miami and Boston, and have it delivered straight to our door 7 days a week. All orders are then custom-packaged and distributed to over 100 restaurants from Dover, DE all the way to West Ocean City, MD. If you’ve eaten at Agave, Striper Bites, Michy’s, Henlopen City Oyster House, The Cultured Pearl, Liquid Assets, One Coastal or Seacrets, then you’ve most likely enjoyed seafood from Big Fish Wholesale! And these are just a few of our local customers.

4. Big Fish Events has been taking the Big Fish experience on the road since 2011! Enjoy our award-winning cuisine and exceptional service at your venue, for anything from cocktail parties and wedding receptions to BBQ’s, clam bakes and crab feasts. If you have a reason to party, we’ll be there!

In addition to providing full-service catering, staffing and/or event management services, we are also an ABCC licensed off-premise caterer and can provide bar service and signature drinks for your event. We offer custom menu planning to include your very own choices from beach fare, comfort food classics, farm to table, or upscale cuisine.

5. Market Craft is Big Fish Restaurant Group’s corporate lunch catering sector, delivering to offices from Dover, DE to Salisbury, MD. Market Craft offers affordable, healthy lunches costed out per person that are great for business meetings or professional events throughout the day. Our most popular options are the Sizzlin’ Fajita Bar, Slammin’ Stir Fry Bar and ever-famous boxed lunches, which we can deliver and set up for you right in the conference room of your corporate location! Every lunch order includes all paper products, iced tea and lemonade, and cookies or brownies, making it super easy for busy professionals to get the fuel they need while working.
